If you’re the type who loves staying at a nice beach resort on vacation (hey, I’m with you!), you’re going to love Kauai! Spread out between the north, east, and south shores, Kauai has some pretty fabulous beach resorts ranging from down right luxurious to more economical.
Here are my favorite Kauai beach resorts broken down by location. Click through the links to check pricing and availability for your travel dates.
Not super familiar with Kauai? Read this post to help you get the lay of the land and decide which area of Kauai is right for you.
Princeville Resort: The crown jewel of the north shore is the Princeville Resort. If you’re looking for a once in a lifetime experience on Kauai, you’ll find it here. Even if you can’t swing it for your whole trip, I would highly recommend at least spending a night or two here. The pool and beach area offer some of the best views on the north shore. Westin Princeville Ocean Resort: The Westin Princeville Ocean Resort Villas are lovely and although not beachfront (most of Princeville is Cliffside), guests to have access to the beach at the nearby St. Regis. Click here to check rates and availability during your stay.
Hanalei Colony Resort: If you really want to get away from it all, this beachfront hideaway on Kauai’s lush north shore is the place to do it. You won’t find televisions or phones here but you will find plenty of natural beauty. Click here to check rates and availability during your stay.
Hanalei Bay Resort: This fabulous resort tucked away on Kauai’s secluded north shore, has a fabulous pool area, gorgeous beach, and even tennis facilities. It’s also a popular spot for destination weddings. Click here to check rates and availability during your stay.
Kauai Marriott Resort: I think the Kauai Marriott Resort is the best “bang for your buck” beach resort on the island. It has one of the largest pools in Hawaii, a golf course nearby, and a full service spa. Starting at $215/night, the Kauai Marriott Resort is definitely a bargain. Click here to check rates and availability during your stay.
Aqua Kauai Beach Resort: Another hidden gem on the “Coconut Coast,” the Kauai Beach Resort is a wonderful beachfront property situated on 25 acres. It’s beautiful, lush, has an amazing pool area, and several restaurants. Click here to check rates and availability during your stay.

Waipouli Beach Resort: Waipouli Beach Resort is another property that offers a luxury experience at a budget price. One of the best parts of the resort is the two acre pool complex which includes pools, hot tubs, water slides, a bar and grill, and even a poolside spa. Click here to check rates and availability during your stay.
Grand Hyatt Kauai: The Grand Hyatt Kauai is the flagship place to stay on the south shore and it’s perfect for families or anyone wanting a “big resort” experience. Click here to check rates and availability during your stay.
Koa Kea Hotel & Resort: For the most upscale luxury resort experience on the south side, Koa Kea Hotel and Resort is lovely. Located on Poipu Beach, Koa Kea has amazing restaurants and a fabulous spa. Click here to check rates and availability during your stay.
Marriott’s Waiohai Beach Club: Located on golden Poipu Beach, this property is everything you’ve come to expect of Marriott’s villa like accommodations. You’ll have to pry yourself away from the fabulous pool and beach amenities here to go exploring around the island! Click here to check rates and availability during your stay.
Sheraton Kauai Resort: With rates starting at $180 in the slow season, the Sheraton is a lovely place to stay in Poipu at a fraction of the price of neighboring resorts. Click here to check rates and availability during your stay.
Villas at Poipu Kai: The Villas at Poipu Kai is a luxury boutique property with three and four bedroom villas. While not right on the beach, it’s only a short five minute stroll past the luscious pool area and Poipu Kai tennis club. Click here to check rates and availability during your stay.
Feeling a little overwhelmed with trying to plan the perfect Hawaii itinerary? I’ve got just the thing for you!
Hawaii Bound! I’ve put together the BEST Hawaii itineraries you’ll find anywhere! These are the itineraries I use on my trips to Hawaii (plus a few tweaks because hindsight is 20/20 right?) and they’re perfect for first time and repeat visitors who want to see the very best of each of the Hawaiian Islands.
Check it out here.
I’ve included everything from the best snorkeling spots, beaches, and excursions and it’s all broken down by each part of the island so you won’t waste any time backtracking.
So what exactly do you get? With Hawaii Bound, you’ll get FOUR different six day itineraries for EACH of the four main Hawaiian Islands (Maui, Oahu, Kauai and the Big Island). Specifically, for each island there’s a: 1) classic 6-day itinerary, 2) 6-day honeymoon itinerary, 3) 6-day adventure seekers itinerary, and 4) foodie itinerary. I’m not just talking about a bullet point list of to dos. Each itinerary comes with 10-15 pages of commentary explaining why I recommend doing certain things (plus various options to suit your interests). You’ll also get a tutorial for making your own Google Map plus tips for customizing your own itinerary.
This is basically vacation in a box, friend! Just add a bit of salt water and you’re in for the trip of a lifetime.
