Skip Starbucks. This is Where to Get Coffee on Kauai’s North Shore.
Okay, real talk. If you’re driving out to the north shore and you’re thinking about stopping at a certain coffee chain place to fuel up before you go…don’t. Because I’ve got something so much better for ya.
The Haven is a super cute little coffee spot tucked out of the way on the north shore of Kauai, and I honestly think it’s not to be missed. It’s got that relaxed, unhurried vibe that the north shore is known for, and it delivers on both the coffee and the ambiance.
Next door there’s also a darling little general store (the kind where you browse longer than you planned and leave with things you didn’t know you needed). The whole situation is pretty charming.
Who This Spot Is Perfect For…
If you’re making the drive out toward Ha’ena Beach Park to hit the Kalalau Trailhead or spend the day at Ke’e Beach, The Haven is basically RIGHT on your way. Like, you’re going to drive past it anyway, so you might as well stop. It’s the perfect pre-hike fuel up situation or a little mid-morning pick-me-up before you hit the beach. This is NOT a sit down, linger over brunch kind of place (though you might be tempted to stay a while). Think more of a grab your coffee, grab a snack, soak in the vibe for a few minutes kind of stop. It’s perfect for early risers heading out to catch a quieter morning at Ke’e, or honestly anyone who appreciates a really good cup of coffee in a really beautiful place.
Extra Details…
The coffee is the main event here, so definitely don’t skip that. And if you’re grabbing snacks for the trail or the beach from the general store next door, even better.
Bottom line…if you’re spending any time on the north shore (and I REALLY hope you are because it’s one of the most beautiful places on earth), put The Haven on your list.
I’ve made it my job for the last 10 years to explore Maui.
And after hundreds of beach days, rainforest hikes, snorkeling trips, and reconnaissance missions to find the best hotels… and mai tais… I put everything I know into one place.
This is my Maui Digital Map — hundreds of my favorite spots. Beaches, snorkeling spots, hikes, farm tours, scenic drives, places to eat.
Yes, I share hidden spots I don’t talk about so much on social media…but also—tourist doesn’t have to be a dirty word. Popular places are popular for a reason.
So I break down what’s worth it, what’s not, where to spend your money, where to save it, and how to avoid crowds at some of Maui’s most popular (and best) places so you actually enjoy your time.
I’m also sharing all of my travel guides on when to go, where to stay, detailed hotel reviews…
plus dozens of itinerary options based on where you’re staying and what you love to do.
