Where to Get Dole Whip BESIDES the Dole Plantation

Let me guess — you’re on Oahu, you want a Dole Whip, and someone told you that means you have to make the trek out to Dole Plantation. Right?

Wrong. And honestly, I’m a little glad you looked this up before you went, because I have THOUGHTS about Dole Plantation.

Here’s my take: Dole Plantation is, in my humble opinion, the biggest tourist trap in Hawaii. I know that’s a spicy take and plenty of people love it, but I just think there are SO many better ways to spend your time on Oahu. It’s the kind of place where you think you’re going to pop in for a quick Dole Whip and suddenly two hours have disappeared and you’ve bought a $30 pineapple shaped cutting board. Sometimes if I’m driving up to the north shore I’ll make a quick pitstop JUST for the Dole Whip and then get back in the car immediately — but even then it has a way of sucking you in.

The good news? You don’t need to go there. There are plenty of places to get a Dole Whip right in Waikiki and beyond. This isn’t an exhaustive list of every spot on the island — just the places I’ve personally gotten it and can actually vouch for.

This post may contain some affiliate links, which means I’ll make a little money on anything you choose to purchase. But of course, I only recommend my absolute favorites to you. Thank you for supporting the brands that make HulaLand possible.

Kokoro Cafe

This is my absolute favorite spot to get a Dole Whip on Oahu and honestly it’s not even close. Kokoro is tucked up on the second floor of the Royal Hawaiian Center in the little food court area, and it’s SO good. What sets it apart is that they have a really fun, creative menu with a lot of offerings beyond just the basic soft serve. Worth seeking out even if you weren’t already planning to be at the Royal Hawaiian Center.

Aloha Whip

Another solid option and one that’s pretty well known among the Dole Whip devotees. Worth checking out if you’re in the area.

Side Note: If you’re looking for a rental car for your trip, I LOVE Discount Hawaii Car Rentals. They’re seriously the only company I ever use. They’ll give you the very best prices, you don’t have to reserve with a credit card or pay until you show up, you can cancel and re-book anytime if you find a better rate, and they usually have a special that adds additional drivers for no fee. It’s a no brainer. Click here to check rates for your trip.

ABC Store on Lewers Street (Inside the Imperial Hawaii Resort)

Okay, this one comes with a very important asterisk. There are TWO ABC Stores on Lewers Street (because of course there are — it’s Waikiki), but only ONE of them has Dole Whip, and it’s the one inside the Imperial Hawaii Resort.

Disney’s Aulani Resort

If you happen to be staying at Aulani or are making a day trip out to Ko Olina, you can get your Dole Whip fix there too. Honestly, getting a Dole Whip at a Disney resort in Hawaii feels very on brand and I have zero complaints about it.

So there you go — no Dole Plantation required. You’re welcome ; )

I’ve made it my job for the last 10 years to explore Maui.

And after hundreds of beach days, rainforest hikes, snorkeling trips, and reconnaissance missions to find the best hotels… and mai tais… I put everything I know into one place.

This is my Maui Digital Map — hundreds of my favorite spots. Beaches, snorkeling spots, hikes, farm tours, scenic drives, places to eat.

Yes, I share hidden spots I don’t talk about so much on social media…but also—tourist doesn’t have to be a dirty word. Popular places are popular for a reason.

So I break down what’s worth it, what’s not, where to spend your money, where to save it, and how to avoid crowds at some of Maui’s most popular (and best) places so you actually enjoy your time.

I’m also sharing all of my travel guides on when to go, where to stay, detailed hotel reviews…
plus dozens of itinerary options based on where you’re staying and what you love to do.

It’s everything you need to see the best of Maui and actually relax. A Vacation in a box…all YOU need to do is pack your suitcase.
