The Little Pie Shop in West Maui That Belongs on Every Itinerary
Leoda’s regularly make “where to eat on Maui” lists and their pies have a loyal fan base…but it still feels like one of those places that’s a bit of a secret.
Leoda’s is famous for their pies and rightfully so… but it’s also a full on lunch and dinner spot. It’s casual, order at the counter, totally unpretentious. But the food quality is a step above what the vibe might suggest. It’s the kind of place that surprises you a little, in the best way.
Who This Is Perfect For…
The location is honestly half the appeal. Leoda’s sits right in Olowalu, which makes it a PERFECT stop if you’re coming or going from anywhere in West Maui. When you’re driving over the Pali coming or going from West Maui, Leoda’s is right there and it’s the best kind of detour. It’s great for lunch, works well for an early dinner, and it’s casual enough that you can show up in whatever you’ve been wearing to the beach all day. Families, couples, solo travelers… everybody fits here. And if you’re just passing through and not stopping for a full meal, at minimum grab some pie to go. There’s really no excuse not to.
What to Order
Okay so the pie. Let’s talk about the pie. The chocolate macadamia nut is their most popular and it lives up to the reputation completely. But personally my favorite is the no bake strawberry cheesecake and I think it’s a little underrated compared to the chocolate one. Both are worth getting honestly.
Here’s my actual strategy… the pies come in mini sizes and I love to stop in and grab a few different ones to take with me. It’s the perfect way to try more than one and honestly having a little box of Leoda’s pies riding shotgun for the rest of your drive around West Maui feels very right.
For a full meal the food is hearty and really satisfying. The menu has that slightly elevated quality to it even though nothing about the setting is fancy, which I always appreciate. You’re not paying for atmosphere here, you’re paying for good food, and that’s exactly what you get.
Price-wise it’s very reasonable. A full meal and a couple of mini pies and you’re still not going to feel like you broke the bank, which on Maui is always a pleasant surprise.
If it’s not already on your West Maui itinerary… add it. You’ll be glad you did ; )
I’ve made it my job for the last 10 years to explore Maui.
And after hundreds of beach days, rainforest hikes, snorkeling trips, and reconnaissance missions to find the best hotels… and mai tais… I put everything I know into one place.
This is my Maui Digital Map — hundreds of my favorite spots. Beaches, snorkeling spots, hikes, farm tours, scenic drives, places to eat.
Yes, I share hidden spots I don’t talk about so much on social media…but also—tourist doesn’t have to be a dirty word. Popular places are popular for a reason.
So I break down what’s worth it, what’s not, where to spend your money, where to save it, and how to avoid crowds at some of Maui’s most popular (and best) places so you actually enjoy your time.
I’m also sharing all of my travel guides on when to go, where to stay, detailed hotel reviews…
plus dozens of itinerary options based on where you’re staying and what you love to do.
It’s everything you need to see the best of Maui and actually relax. A Vacation in a box…all YOU need to do is pack your suitcase.
