Everyone Waits in Line for Breakfast at the Gazebo on Maui…But This Place Actually Has Better Views

If you’ve spent any time researching things to do on Maui’s west side, you’ve almost definitely come across the Gazebo. It’s one of those spots that shows up on every “where to eat on Maui” list, people rave about the views of Napili Bay, and there’s almost always a line snaking out the door before it even opens. And look, the Gazebo deserves the hype in a lot of ways.

But here’s what most people don’t know…there’s a spot right across the same beach that’s just as good, usually doesn’t have a line, and honestly? I think the views are actually BETTER. It’s called Sea House Restaurant and it’s one of my favorite breakfast spots on the whole island.

Sea House sits right at the edge of Napili Bay at the Napili Kai Beach Resort. The restaurant is open air and even if you’re not at a table right on the edge, you’ll be able to enjoy the view.

Who This Restaurant Is Perfect For…

This is a breakfast and lunch spot (they do dinner too, but breakfast is really where it shines), and it’s perfect for pretty much anyone staying on the west side of Maui. If you’re at one of the resorts or condos in Napili, Ka’anapali, or even Kapalua, this is an easy and very worthwhile stop. It’s also a great option if you’re heading up to Kapalua to spend the day at the beach.

But here’s the thing that really sets it apart from the Gazebo situation across the beach…you can actually SEE the beach. At the Gazebo, y ou’re mostly looking out at the water (not the beach) through small slatted windows.. At Sea House, the whole beach kind of opens up in front of you. It’s a breakfast you’ll be talking about for a long time.

Extra Details…

Pricing is reasonable for a beachfront breakfast on Maui, think somewhere in the $15 to $20 range for most breakfast plates. The macadamia nut pancakes are amazing as is the Haleakala souffle pancake. The eggs Benedict is also really solid and the breakfast plates are hearty enough that you may not need to eat again until dinner.

So next time you’re on Maui and considering waking up early to wait in line at the Gazebo…maybe sleep in a little and head to Sea House instead ; )

I’ve made it my job for the last 10 years to explore Maui.

And after hundreds of beach days, rainforest hikes, snorkeling trips, and reconnaissance missions to find the best hotels… and mai tais… I put everything I know into one place.

This is my Maui Digital Map — hundreds of my favorite spots. Beaches, snorkeling spots, hikes, farm tours, scenic drives, places to eat.

Yes, I share hidden spots I don’t talk about so much on social media…but also—tourist doesn’t have to be a dirty word. Popular places are popular for a reason.

So I break down what’s worth it, what’s not, where to spend your money, where to save it, and how to avoid crowds at some of Maui’s most popular (and best) places so you actually enjoy your time.

I’m also sharing all of my travel guides on when to go, where to stay, detailed hotel reviews…
plus dozens of itinerary options based on where you’re staying and what you love to do.

It’s everything you need to see the best of Maui and actually relax. A Vacation in a box…all YOU need to do is pack your suitcase.
