If you’re doing the Road to Hana (and if you’re reading this, you probably are), you already know that the drive itself is kind of the whole point. The waterfalls, the one-lane bridges, the lush jungle closing in around you…it’s the perfect adventure day. 

But at some point you’re going to get hungry, you’re going to need a bathroom, and you’re probably going to start thinking about what to bring home for the people you left behind. Well I’ve got just the spot for you!

Hana Farms is one of my favorite stops on the Road to Hana, and I don’t say that lightly because there are a LOT of stops competing for your attention out there. Hana Farms is part farm stand, part lunch spot, part souvenir shop, and it does all three things really well.

Who This Stop Is Perfect For…

Honestly? Everyone doing the Road to Hana should stop here, full stop. But it’s especially perfect if you’re doing the full day trip and you need a proper lunch somewhere in the middle of it all. You’re going to be hungry by the time you roll through (road to Hana math: you woke up early, you’ve been stopping and hiking and taking pictures for hours, and you probably burned through whatever snacks you packed around mile marker 20).

It’s also THE stop if you’ve been wanting to do a little souvenir shopping but you’re hoping for local, made on Maui goods instead of the mass produced stuff you’ll find at the ABC Store back in the resort bubble. More on that in a second. 

And if you just need a few minutes to stretch your legs, use a clean bathroom, and grab a cold drink before getting back in the car…Hana Farms is your place.

Let’s talk food first. The brick oven pizzas here are SO good and honestly kind of unexpected for a farm stand situation. This isn’t grabbing a sad gas station sandwich out of desperation. The pizzas are fresh, they’re generous, and they’re exactly what you want after a morning of waterfalls and winding roads. They also have salads if you want something a little lighter. Pricing is reasonable, especially for Maui where everything feels a little steep. 

*A note about timing…you’ll come to Hana Farms BEFORE you reach the black sand beach at Wai’anapanapa State Park, but I would recommend visiting the beach first (especially since you have to time it just right with the reservations) and then backtracking the couple of miles for lunch. 

Now, the farm stand. This is where Hana Farms really shines. The selection of locally made products here is one of the best I’ve seen anywhere on the island. We’re talking Maui-made chocolate (and not the cheap grocery store stuff…the GOOD stuff), local honey, and a really solid lineup of gifts that actually feel special and specific to Hawaii. This is the kind of place where you can knock out all your souvenir shopping in one go and feel really good about what you’re bringing home.

It’s easy to end up panic-buying macadamia nut chocolates and little chotskies at the ABC Store on your last day, and look, no judgment…we’ve all been there. But if you’re going to do the Road to Hana anyway, you might as well bring home something that someone actually made on this island. The chocolate alone is worth leaving extra room in your bag for.

Oh, and I mentioned the bathrooms and I’m mentioning them again because clean, accessible bathrooms on the Road to Hana are not something you take for granted. They’re here. They’re clean. Use them ; )

Bottom line: Hana Farms is a super star stop on the Road to Hana. Good food, good gifts, clean facilities, cold drinks. Definitely build it into your plan for the day!
