The Lahaina Restaurant That’s a Favorite with Visitors AND Locals
I love it when a restaurant manages to be loved by both locals AND visitors because honestly that’s not as common as you’d think. A lot of spots end up leaning one way or the other…either it’s a total tourist scene or it’s so under the radar that visitors never find it. Star Noodle has somehow figured out how to be everyone’s favorite at the same time.
It started out as a go to spot for locals wanting something casual but still a little upscale for dinner in Lahaina. Over time though, word got out (as it always does) and now it’s just as beloved by visitors. The vibe is relaxed but still feels like a proper night out… not fussy, just really good food in a setting that feels current and kind of cool without trying too hard.

Who This Restaurant Is Perfect For…
This is a great pick if you’re looking for a dinner spot that feels like a step up from a casual meal but isn’t going to require you to dress up or break the bank. It’s perfect for couples wanting a nice night out, groups of friends who want to share a bunch of dishes, or honestly anyone who just wants a really solid meal in Lahaina without the stress of a fancy spot.
It’s especially meaningful right now too. Star Noodle is in a little pocket of restaurants on Front Street that didn’t burn in the Lahaina wildfires, so eating here is a great way to support a local business while Lahaina continues rebuilding. Plus you get those gorgeous oceanfront views while you eat, so it’s not exactly a hardship to choose this spot.
Side Note: If you’re looking for a rental car for your trip, I LOVE Discount Hawaii Car Rentals. They’re seriously the only company I ever use. They’ll give you the very best prices, you don’t have to reserve with a credit card or pay until you show up, you can cancel and re-book anytime if you find a better rate, and they usually have a special that adds additional drivers for no fee. It’s a no brainer. Click here to check rates for your trip.
Extra Details
Price wise, you’re looking at moderate Lahaina dinner prices…not cheap, but not the kind of place that’s going to make you wince when the bill comes either. It’s the kind of spot where ordering a handful of shareable dishes works really well, so don’t be afraid to order a bit of everything and pass plates around the table.
Do NOT skip the garlic noodles. Seriously, non negotiable. And the pork belly bao buns are great too. Beyond those two, the menu has a lot of fun Asian fusion style dishes that are great for sharing, so go in with an appetite and an open mind.
If you’re looking for a dinner spot in Lahaina that locals actually love too (not just a place that gets recommended because it’s near the resorts), this is it. And with everything Lahaina has been through, it feels good to spend your money somewhere that’s helping the community bounce back.
Want the full plan, not just this post?
If you’ve read this far, you’re probably actually planning a trip to Maui…not just daydreaming. So here’s the thing: what you just read is a small piece of what I know about this island.
I’ve been visiting Maui for years, and I put everything…the itineraries, the hotel breakdowns, the restaurants actually worth your time, the spots most visitors never find…into one guide. It’s 75+ pages, built around real day-by-day plans (not just a list of “things to do”), plus an interactive map so you’re not toggling between five browser tabs trying to piece your trip together.
It’s the guide I wish I’d had on my first few trips here.
