We need to talk about Break+Fast in Koloa because I think it’s flying way under the radar as one of Kauai’s best brunch spots.

Here’s the thing about brunch on Kauai…most people assume their best option is whatever’s happening at their resort. And look, resort brunch is fine. But it’s usually pretty predictable and you’re paying resort prices for a buffet that feels like it’s designed for volume, not quality.

Break+Fast is the opposite of that. It has a nice “special occasion” energy to it, but it doesn’t feel like a tourist spot at all. When I was there, it was mostly locals treating themselves to a nice weekend brunch, which honestly tells you everything you need to know. Koloa has really stepped up its restaurant game in the last few years, and this spot might be the best example of that.

Who This Restaurant Is Perfect For…

If you’re staying in Poipu, this is exactly where you want to be for brunch. It’s just a quick drive up into Koloa town, and it makes for a really nice morning that doesn’t require you to commit to a whole resort dining experience.

It’s also perfect if you’re the type of traveler who wants a “nice” meal without it being fussy or overly fancy. This isn’t a white tablecloth situation…it’s more like an elevated, cozy brunch spot where you can show up in your casual/beach clothes and still feel like you’re having a little bit of a moment.

I’d say this is a great pick for couples wanting a slower morning, or honestly anyone who just wants really good food without a huge production. It’s not a quick grab and go kind of place (go somewhere else if you’re in a rush to get to the beach), but if you’ve got a lazy morning built into your day, this is where I’d send you.

Price wise, you’re looking at a mid range brunch spot…not cheap eats, but definitely not resort buffet prices either. Think somewhere in the $15-25 per plate range depending on what you order.

And what you should order… the eggs benedict is incredible. Like, genuinely one of the best versions I’ve had in Hawaii. But don’t sleep on the lilikoi pancakes either. Everything on the menu leans seasonal and fresh, so what’s available can shift a bit depending on when you visit, but that’s part of the charm honestly. It feels like they’re actually cooking with what’s good right now instead of just running the same menu year round.

One tip… make a reservation if you’re going on a weekend. This place has clearly gotten some buzz locally, and I’d hate for you to show up and find out it’s a wait situation when you could’ve just planned ahead.
