Pumpkins in Fall, Strawberries in Spring…This Maui Upcountry Farms Delivers Year Round
Okay, if you haven’t been upcountry Maui, I need you to hear me when I say… you haven’t actually seen the real Maui. Everybody heads straight for the beach resorts (I get it, I love a good resort too), but upcountry is where the island shows a totally different side of itself. And Kula Country Farms is one of my favorite little stops up there.
This is a roadside farm stand, so don’t come in expecting some elaborate attraction. But the views alone make it worth pulling over for… you can see practically the whole island from up here, which honestly never stops being kind of magical. There are goats hanging out, Shamrock the tortoise is tooling around the garden, and the farm stand itself is stocked with fresh produce plus a really solid selection of local gifts and souvenirs. Oh, and the Maile Tea Co truck is usually parked onsite too, so you can grab a drink while you wander around.
This post may contain some affiliate links, which means I’ll make a little money on anything you choose to purchase. But of course, I only recommend my absolute favorites to you. Thank you for supporting the brands that make HulaLand possible.
Who This Spot Is Perfect For…
This is a quick stop, not a whole afternoon commitment, so it’s perfect if you’re already road tripping upcountry and want something easy to break up the drive. Heading to Haleakala? Checking out the lavender farm or Maui Wine? Just tack this on, it’s right in the mix.

It’s also a great one for families. Kids are going to love seeing the goats and the tortoise, and there’s something about a farm stand that just feels like a fun little adventure, especially for little ones who don’t get much exposure to that kind of thing back home.
And honestly, it’s perfect for literally anyone because… it’s free. No admission, no ticket, nothing. You just pull off the road, wander around, buy whatever produce or gifts catch your eye (or don’t buy anything at all), and be on your way. There’s really no excuse not to stop.
Side Note: If you’re looking for a rental car for your trip, I LOVE Discount Hawaii Car Rentals. They’re seriously the only company I ever use. They’ll give you the very best prices, you don’t have to reserve with a credit card or pay until you show up, you can cancel and re-book anytime if you find a better rate, and they usually have a special that adds additional drivers for no fee. It’s a no brainer. Click here to check rates for your trip.
Timing wise, this is also a seasonal thing worth planning around. In the fall, they’ve got a full on pumpkin patch, which feels so random and delightful in the middle of Hawaii. And in the spring, they do a u pick strawberry patch, which is one of those experiences that just makes for a really fun, different kind of Maui memory. Doesn’t matter what season you’re visiting in though… there’s always something going on here.
I will say, this isn’t the spot for a big meal or a sit down experience. Think of it more as a fun little pit stop than a destination on its own. But that’s kind of the beauty of it. It doesn’t ask much of you, time or money wise, and it delivers a genuinely charming slice of upcountry life in exchange.
So if you’re mapping out an upcountry day (and you should be), just squeeze this one in. Grab a tea from the truck, say hi to the goats, pick up some fresh fruit for the road, and keep it moving. Sometimes the best stops on a trip are the ones that don’t require much planning at all.
I’ve made it my job for the last 10 years to explore Maui.
And after hundreds of beach days, rainforest hikes, snorkeling trips, and reconnaissance missions to find the best hotels… and mai tais… I put everything I know into one place.
This is my Maui Digital Map — hundreds of my favorite spots. Beaches, snorkeling spots, hikes, farm tours, scenic drives, places to eat.
Yes, I share hidden spots I don’t talk about so much on social media…but also—tourist doesn’t have to be a dirty word. Popular places are popular for a reason.
So I break down what’s worth it, what’s not, where to spend your money, where to save it, and how to avoid crowds at some of Maui’s most popular (and best) places so you actually enjoy your time.
I’m also sharing all of my travel guides on when to go, where to stay, detailed hotel reviews…
plus dozens of itinerary options based on where you’re staying and what you love to do.
It’s everything you need to see the best of Maui and actually relax. A Vacation in a box…all YOU need to do is pack your suitcase.
